About Vigorous Vixen

I love January and the stillness, quiet and solitude that comes after the hustle, bustle and inevitable stress of the holiday season.  It's nice to have a chance to reflect, drink hot tea, get organized, and set goals for the coming year.

This year my goal is to completely revamp my beauty routine and find the most effective, least harmful beauty solutions available within my budget. For a long time I've suspected that the cosmetics I use may contain many harmful ingredients, but I had several excuses stopping me from making improvements to my routine:

  • no time to research all the ingredients;
  • not enough energy to sort out the truth from misleading marketing claims and hype;
  • not willing to spend a premium price for natural and organic brands (that may not even be better than their conventional counterparts).

As a project manager for a green building consulting firm, I could  rattle off a list of VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) limits for paints and adhesives and I could tell you about plenty of dangerous chemicals that should be avoided in building construction materials, but I couldn't tell you how many carcinogens and reproductive toxins I slathered onto my skin this morning.  And I'm not proud of that.

Surely there is a way to develop an affordable beauty routine that works using products that are safe and healthy.  I know that I posses the vigor and shrewdness that it takes to figure this out, and I'm ready for a total makeover.  So - 2014 - this is the year that I'm going to get to the bottom of this.  This is the year I will become a Vigorous Vixen.  :)  And I'd like to invite you to join me on my journey.
